About Pete Volos - Psychegetics
Based in Sydney, Australia, Psychegetics is the vision of Pete Volos, a trauma-informed holistic practitioner, somatic guide and facilitator whose work brings together breathwork, bodywork, TCM, stroboscopic light therapy, kinesiology, energy practices and altered states of consciousness.
At the heart of Psychegetics is a simple philosophy: the body carries an innate intelligence. Experiences that have shaped us can continue to influence the way we feel, relate, protect ourselves and move through the world, often outside our conscious awareness.
Pete's approach is centred on creating the conditions for people to slow down, reconnect with their bodies and explore what lies beneath habitual patterns. Rather than dictating what someone's experience should be, he creates a safe and supportive space for each person's own process to unfold.
Pete's Journey
Pete's path into this work began through his own search for greater health, meaning and connection.
Following the unexpected loss of both of his grandfathers during his final years of high school, Pete began questioning life at a much deeper level. What followed was a period of stress, anxiety and disconnection, alongside an increasingly unhealthy relationship with partying, alcohol, drugs and other forms of escapism.
Eventually, those experiences became a catalyst for change.
Pete discovered Reiki and Kinesiology, which opened the door to a very different understanding of the relationship between the body, mind, emotions and energy. As his exploration deepened, he began recognising patterns within himself connected to intimacy, belonging, trust, family history and the ways we learn to protect ourselves from difficult experiences.
Over the years, his personal exploration expanded through meditation, breathwork, somatic practices, bodywork, energy work and altered states of consciousness. These experiences became less about trying to "fix" himself and more about learning to listen to the intelligence of the body and meet what arose with awareness and curiosity.
Alongside this inner journey, Pete completed a university degree in Civil Engineering and spent more than a decade working as an engineer and project manager. This part of his life provided an important grounding influence, teaching him to value structure, discernment and practical thinking alongside intuition, spirituality and embodied experience.
This meeting of seemingly different worlds — structure and surrender, science and spirituality, masculine and feminine, mind and body — became an important foundation for Psychegetics.
The Psychegetics Philosophy
Psychegetics is ultimately about remembering our capacity for connection, awareness and transformation.
Through private sessions, group experiences, workshops and retreats, Pete creates spaces for people to explore their relationship with their bodies, emotions, patterns, relationships and inner worlds.
The work may involve breath, movement, sound, touch, somatic awareness, energy practices or altered states. While the doorway may change, the intention remains the same: to move beyond constantly analysing ourselves and create space to actually feel, experience and listen.
Pete believes meaningful transformation doesn't necessarily come from forcing ourselves to change. Sometimes it begins when we feel safe enough to meet the parts of ourselves we've learned to avoid.
His work continues to evolve alongside his own journey. In Human Design, Pete is a Reflector — an archetype that resonates deeply with how he understands his role as a facilitator: not to impose his own answers, but to offer a mirror through which others may see themselves more clearly.
Much like Pete's relationship with the spirit of Cannabis, the invitation is one of reflection — becoming curious about what lies beneath the surface, releasing what no longer serves, and creating greater space for authenticity, connection and life.
See you soon, traveller.

Training & Approach
Pete has undertaken extensive training and personal development across a range of complementary and somatic modalities, including:
Conscious Connected Breathwork
Cannabis-Assisted Psychedelic Therapy & Facilitation
Bioenergetics and Reichian-inspired bodywork
Kinesiology
Mind-Body Therapy
Tantra and Tantric Bodywork
Energy Healing and Reiki
Meditation and mindfulness
Ecstatic movement and embodied practices
Pete is also an Australian Breathwork Association accredited breathwork practitioner and has completed extensive practical training with experienced facilitators in Australia and internationally.
Rather than approaching everyone through one technique or philosophy, Pete draws from different modalities depending on the person and the nature of the experience.
His role is not to tell someone what their experience means or where their journey should take them. It is to create a safe, intentional and supportive container where their own experience can unfold naturally.
Cannabis & Altered States
Cannabis has also played a significant role in Pete's personal journey.
Beginning with cannabis as an ally in mindfulness and self-exploration, Pete became fascinated by its ability to shift perception and bring greater awareness to sensations, emotions and unconscious patterns.
His relationship with the plant wasn't always comfortable. Experiences of anxiety, fear and paranoia became opportunities to become curious about what was happening beneath the surface rather than simply turning away from it.
That curiosity eventually led Pete to undertake specialised training in the United States in cannabis-assisted psychedelic therapy and psychedelic facilitation, learning from experienced practitioners working with cannabis as a tool for altered-state and somatic exploration.
Through his own journeys and professional training, Pete developed a deep respect for altered states — not as something to chase for intensity, but as a space in which people may encounter themselves from a different perspective.
Today, altered-state work sits alongside somatic and body-based practices within Psychegetics, with an emphasis on preparation, safety, embodiment and integration.
